At Aves IT we believe that in today’s ICT there is far more to automate and orchestrate than what is being done now.
Take installing a virtual machine: in many companies this is still done by hand, with a manual decision each time whether or not to install security patches, which drive letters or mount points to install applications on, and so on. Automating ICT gives a predictable, reproducible result, because the tasks are clearly defined and a computer carries them out exactly that way.
Orchestration is making sure that all those defined tasks run at the right moment in the right context, with tasks using dependencies to reach the correct result. Often this is still done by hand as well: we make sure there are two web servers, and that the load balancer knows about them. Nowadays this can be orchestrated just as well: at the push of a button, two web servers are created automatically, provided with the right website and registered in the load balancers.
At Aves IT we use two tools for this. For generic IT we like to demonstrate CloudBolt, a Cloud Management Portal with very extensive self-service features for end users and administrators. For containers we like to demonstrate Kubernetes in depth, for which we provide both installations and training.
